Hey guys, Xiaomi has launched its latest Mi TV X Pro Magic QLED TV in India in 2024. And let me tell you, they claim this is their best TV yet with some crazy good picture quality. So, does it really live up to the hype?

Let me introduce myself first – I’m Vineet Malhotra, and today, I’m gonna walk you through the real deal on this TV. Oh, and Xiaomi didn’t send me this TV for review, I bought it myself from Amazon. So, you’re gonna get an unfiltered review here, just like all the other TVs I’ve covered.

I’m going to rate the TV on different parameters and give you a detailed breakdown of everything. I’ve even provided timestamps so you can skip to whatever interests you most, but stick around for the full breakdown if you’re serious about buying this TV.

Design:

This TV looks fantastic. It’s got a metal frame and super-thin bezels, which give it a premium look. The body is a mix of metal and plastic, and you’ll find Xiaomi’s subtle branding at the bottom. Inside the box, you’ll find plastic table mount stands. Wanna mount it on the wall? You’ll need to buy that separately from the installation team, which isn’t ideal.

The remote is pretty basic, with six hotkeys for easy access, and the design is similar to other Xiaomi TVs – simple but functional. Overall, the design is sleek, and it looks good even from the sides.

Picture Quality:

Now let’s talk about the panel. This TV uses an 8-bit FRC VA DLED QLED panel. We tested the brightness, and it peaks around 310 nits, but in some scenes, it can go up to 400 nits. The refresh rate is 60Hz, and there’s no VRR (Variable Refresh Rate), but the contrast ratio is a fantastic 4800:1. The blacks are deep, and honestly, it makes watching dark scenes a real treat.

The gray uniformity is good – not the best but decent for the price. Plus, Xiaomi added a feature called Contrast Boost, which I highly recommend you keep ON to make the colors pop even more.

Xiaomi uses a Vivid Picture Engine 2 in this TV, which really enhances the color gamut. You’ll see 100% sRGB and 88% DCI-P3, meaning the colors are vibrant, especially the reds and blues, which are slightly oversaturated. It’s a good kind of saturation, though, giving the picture a lively and punchy feel. Dynamic range is another strong point – details in dark and shadowy scenes look incredible.

Motion Handling:

Even though it’s a 60Hz panel, the MEMC Reality Flow feature helps with motion blur. Fast action scenes, sports, whatever – you won’t notice any major blur, which is a win for a TV in this price range.

Viewing Angles:

Since it’s a VA panel, the viewing angles aren’t as good as an IPS panel. Expect about 20-25% color and brightness loss if you’re watching from the sides.

Smart Features:

The TV runs on Android 14 Google TV OS with Xiaomi’s Patchwall skin on top. You can switch between Google’s home screen or Patchwall, whichever you prefer. Both have your favorite or recommended content laid out for easy access. Xiaomi also added Xiaomi TV Plus, which gives you free access to live channels, mostly news. Plus, you’ve got Chromecast, Miracast, and Google Assistant with a dedicated button on the remote.

Connectivity:

You’re sorted on the connectivity front with 3x HDMI 2.1 ports, including one eARC port, and 2x USB ports. It also supports Bluetooth 5.0 and dual-band WiFi. Pretty impressive for the price range!

HDR Formats:

The TV supports all the HDR formats you need: HDR10, HDR10+, HLG, and Dolby Vision. We tested some HDR10+ content on Prime Video, and the dynamic range really stood out. You’ll see details in dark areas, and even the 400 nits peak brightness does a decent job.

Audio:

The sound? It’s okay. You get 30W down-firing speakers with Dolby Audio and DTS Virtual X. The dialogue clarity is good, but if you want cinematic sound, I’d suggest getting a soundbar.

Gaming:

This isn’t a dedicated gaming TV, but it’s good for casual gaming. It supports Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) if you connect a PS5 or Xbox. However, there’s no VRR and it’s limited to 60Hz. Gaming in HDR is also missing, which is a bummer.

My Final Rating:

Overall, I’d give the Mi X Pro Magic QLED TV a score of 7.75/10. It’s a solid TV with a lot to offer, especially in terms of picture quality and dynamic range. The design is premium, and while the brightness could be better, the contrast and color accuracy make up for it. Just don’t expect it to be a gaming beast.

Should You Buy It?

If you want a QLED TV for content consumption with great picture quality and don’t care much about gaming or super high brightness, this TV is a good choice. It comes in 43″, 55″, and 65″ sizes. You can find the prices on Mi.com, Amazon, and Flipkart.

That’s all for today! Let me know your thoughts in the comments, and if you’ve got any questions about the Magic QLED TV, drop them below – I’ll try to answer them ASAP.
